Just Becauses'

Don't you just love "Just Becauses?" I do...... My sweet hubby came home today with this bouquet and it was "just because" You ladies know that these are the most special bouquets of them all. Just thought I would share. AND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is my "well" Moses, sitting on the top of his cage, sitting in his window out of his hospital cage. It was a beautiful day here lots of sunshine for him to enjoy.

He was very interested in the camera so I could not get a good picture. I am keeping him in his room for a few days and not let him out and about in the house. I do not want him to get to active too quick. He has this window all to himself and it looks out south of the house. He sits in that window a lot...

He needs to put on some weight so I am feeding him lots of corn. He loves whole corn so I make it available to him all day.

Here he is sitting on his cage He has this room all to himself and I keep it a little warmer now than the rest of the house. I am glad he is better and sitting in the sunlight.

Last but Not Least

I was out and about in the yard today for just a while and came across the Don Juan Rose bush in front of my house and one over by the end of mothers house. There among the signs of fall were a few signs of summer. Three beautiful rose buds just asking to be cut. With scissors in hand out I went with the intentions of just cutting the three buds and putting them in a small vase.

BUT THEN..... I saw the beautiful lime green leaves of the fading Yellow Cannas and the dark green with white flowers of the Glossy Abelia....... So with scissors in hand around the house I went. Tucked in this vase is a touch of Cannas, and Abelia and branches off of the Crape Myrtles and a few branches from the rosemary in front of the house.......... Oh my gosh, they smell wonderful!

It is now sitting on my desk in the shop for me to enjoy for a few days...... as I watch the roses open and their petals fall to the ground, I will remember.............. While the winter causes my world to sleep......... New life is just below the surface waiting for the SonShine........

There ARE three roses....... can you see them?

Just wanted you to know that Moses is better....... He still has to stay in his small cage till Friday but he is doing much better.

Moses

Look at that face!

Had to make an emergency trip to the veterinary yesterday. My little Moses is sick. There are many vets here in town but none that care for exotic birds. We have to travel a little over an hour to get to one. That was a LONG hour. Seems that Moses has a respiratory infection and he is pretty sick.

She gave him a shot of antibiotics and I have to give him a drop every day for 5 days along with an anti fungal medicine. He is tame but not that tame and I hate having to hold him that tight and drop medicine in his mouth but it is for his best.

He is an "old bird" as the vet said and stressors in his life are not good. I thought that I was doing right by him taking him to my brothers while we were gone on vacation but in actual fact it is most likely the reason he is sick. He was out of his comfort zone and was in a different climate with different surroundings.. Normally a young bird will handle those things just fine but not an "old bird" as the vet kept saying. I just did not know...

He has to stay in his cage in his room with the door shut and the temp between 80-85 for one week. I am not to handle him only to give him medicine. If he does not eat right then I am to give him baby food ( we got carrots and squash) and yogurt, but he seems to be eating real well and he loves rice so he has plenty of that in his cage. The hardest thing is staying out of there and letting him have quiet. The Vet said that heat and quiet is very important.

Oh how we love these little animals.

Lord I am so sorry for being ignorant to the facts and please keep an eye on Moses.

HIS eye is on the sparrow, so I KNOW HE watches Moses.

Home Again

We are home again..........bet you did not even know I was gone....... We were on VACATION........ We left here Wednesday morning headed for the Ozarks. Craft fairs and quiet time. Sorry to say but the weather turned terrible and we did not get to sit outside or build a fire. We sat in the camper most of the time but did get out to the Fair on Friday. Bella Vista.. Love it.. The weather was wonderful and we strolled around for hours.. I am so glad that Dennis loves the same things as I do.

This is our camper, I had forgotten to take pictures before we put the awning up. It is 26 foot with slid out and we just love it. We have had it three years but never had the time to take it out. We were hoping for better weather but one can never plan on that.

This is the view outside the campsite. Beaver Lake near Rogers Arkansas. It was just beautiful. The trees were turning and the the view around the lake was like a painted pallet. This picture does not do it justice.

This is the entrance to the Bella Vista Craft Fair. It was a beautiful day for strolling around the grounds. I had hopes of being a participant this year with my primitives but that did not work out for me but maybe next year.

I took a picture of this at one of the booths.. I so loved it and I want Dennis to make one for next year to hang around the pool. Just change the word to pool instead of Lake. What ya think?

We closed up the camper on Saturday morning and headed to Springfield Mo to celebrate our 10th anniversary and visit with his brother and his family. We have not seen them in two years. We spent the night in Springfield Saturday and headed back to the camp site on Sunday night.
With the weather being so yucky we decided to pull up stakes and head home on Monday, do some laundry and head out again on Tuesday morning for Texas.

We love the little town of McKinney Texas, it has a quaint little town square with lots of vintage shops and outdoor cafe's'. But alas, Tuesday morning around 2 AM Dennis woke up very very sick and we paced the floor for hours when around 8 in the morning I became so sick also. Stomach flu with diarrhea and vomiting. High fever and body aches.. Mercy!!! 36 hours later we are better but it is now Wednesday and vacation is over come Thursday morning. That was not fun.

Well I think I have more pictures to share but I still feel pretty bad and need to go and lay down awhile. I will be back in the blog full time now. I have missed everyone and want to get back visiting my favorite ladies...

October Blessings

Just a quick note to let you gals know that Dennis lost his mother quite suddenly on Monday. She had left here two years ago when his father died to live in her home town as a child.
They say that she had a massive heart attack or stroke. She died instantly.
Her funeral service is Saturday in Missouri but we will not be going, as they are bringing her here for burial next to his Dad on Monday. Dennis and I will be going out to the cemetery when she gets here. Not sure yet of the plans as there is no family or friends here. They were only here two years before his father died.

Busy week here.......... Dad is home and doing fine. The weather has turned so fast and we have decided to close the pool. We had a heater put in a few weeks ago but there is a part not working and it is on order. Thus we just decided to cover it up and open it early in April. I am looking forward to the fall and winter as I seem to have more time to accomplish things that I just cannot get to in the summer. Could it be that I would rather spend time outside around the pool and in the yard than WORK........................ You bettcha!

I am working on some projects in my shop that I want to share with you but that will happen in a couple of weeks. I am going to try and make a couple of wreaths for the front of the house this weekend. The flowers have been in the back of my car for weeks now. I will take pictures.

Well not much more to tell, I have news but it will keep for a couple of weeks. I have lots to do in the yard this fall, I hope that the weather permits.

Have a fun October as I will be off the blog now until the end of next week.
Love you guys much and look forward to getting back in touch.

Shop Keeper

Look at that face!

While I am out in my shop during the day my buddy Moses, my love bird has the "fly" of the house. (can't say run because he is not running!) ha! Anyway, I have a grape vine twined around the curtain rod and it is one of his favorite places to sit. Thought you might like to meet Moses if you have not already.

We bought him in March of 2000. He was hatched in December of 1999 and we picked him out when he was just a little pink ball of skin with no feathers and eyes closed. They put a little metal band around his teeny tiny leg and we would go back to the shop weekly and watch to see how he was progressing. He is such a joy in my life and is with me all day. OH yes, he makes a mess but so what.........

He is spoiled beyond belief, but so what! He is a picky eater and he loves rice, but NOT instant rice, he wants the whole rice with the little green specks that I have to cook for 20 minutes in the microwave and let me tell you, he knows when that microwave is running and he knows what's cooking. AND popcorn, watch your fingers because he will bite the fire out of you if you even try to get a piece of his popcorn. He smells it while it is in the microwave and he is right there watching! I have to grab the bag and throw it in the cabinet to keep him away until it cools off! Impatient little thing!

His morning breakfast is scrambled eggs, and a bite of my cantaloupe if in season. He knows when it is dinner time and he has little yellow dishes (they are actually saucers for small flower pots about 3" across) and he knows that they are their his dinner dishes and he is VERY interested in what's for dinner!

Their life span in captivity is 5-7 years and usually die in household accidents. I have been VERY protective of him thus he will soon turn 10 years old. In the wild they live 10-15 years. I love Moses but will never have another love bird and if you think you want ONE, do not do that. They need to be in pairs. There are many many people that raise and them to sell them as pets but they should only be selling them in pairs. They bond to each other and if they are alone they bond to a human. That is not a bad thing but they need another lovebird as well.

He understands a lot of things and he knows when it is bath time. He heads to the kitchen sink and he has his own plastic lid about 1/2 " deep and 14 " around. I hold that under slow running water and after a little coxing he takes a bath... and SO DO I........ Water goes everywhere! Then it is back to his room and on his perch in the window for drying time.........
.

Everyday about 2:00 he heads to the crook of my neck where he takes about an hour nap. It does not matter what I am doing he is GOING to take a nap and he gets a bit pissy if I do not sit still and cuddle! ahahhaha In the winter it is easy to take time out for him but in the summer time he had a LOT of pissy days! (do you know what a lovebird does when he is pissy? HE BITES!)

Well OK OK, enough about Moses.......... just thought you might like to see my buddy!

Dad

Dad is back in the hospital. I took him out there this morning at 4:00 am...... He is bleeding into his colostomy bag and his heart rate is down in the 40's. Me and PE spent from 4 till 8:00 am until they got him admitted and up into his room.
They did many x-rays and a CT scan of his abdomen. He is on a heart monitor and they are giving him Cipro antibiotics. I checked back with him at 5:00 this afternoon and he is resting well.
They will have the results to all the test tomorrow early afternoon. I appreciate your prayers. It has been a very hard day. Dennis and I have mother tonight and will have her till Dad comes home.

***************************************************

I don't know about tomorrow,
I just live from day to day.
I don't borrow from it's sunshine,
For it's skies may turn to gray.
I don't worry o'er the future,
For I know what Jesus said,
And today I'll walk beside Him,
For He knows what is ahead.

Many things about tomorrow,
I don't seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.
Ev'ry step is getting brighter,
As the golden stairs I climb;
Ev'ry burden's getting lighter;
Ev'ry cloud is silver lined.
There the sun is always shining,
There no tear will dim the eyes,
At the ending of the rainbow,
Where the mountains touch the sky.
Many things about tomorrow,
I don't seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.I don't know about tomorrow,
It may bring me poverty;
But the One Who feeds the sparrow,
Is the One Who stands by me.
And the path that be my portion,
May be through the flame or flood,
But His presence goes before me,
And I'm covered with His blood. I don't seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.
