Bad Back and Moving Mom

Mom seems to be doing much better now and the crying has stopped. She is getting up and doing things around the house and puts her dishes in the sink and moves from her computer to her chair and reads and crochets and then back to her computer with out prompting from me. I am very encouraged with her progress and her nurse seems to think that the way we have handled it has been wonderful. She needed to come over here for a while to sort through her feelings but now maybe she can live in her house with me right next door.

I will never be able to leave and go anywhere unless I have someone to watch her but with her in her home it will be easier on me and her. The nurse even seems to think that after a month or so she might be able to stay at home at night (right now we are going to bring her back over here to sleep)

So I am busy cleaning carpets and putting food back in the fridge.  She just needs her junk food and some of her favorite sodas.  Maybe some lunch food and of course her Frito's and peanut butter cookies. ( I need those things out of my house anyway, hahahah   I love junk food. )

I have hired a little gal to come and stay with mom once in a while. She comes on Wednesdays from 10-3 so that I can go out and just get away and she will also stay on weekends over night when Dennis and I want to get away. That is wonderful but at $100.00 a day we will not do that much right now but when mother's VA benefits start we will be able to use some of that money to have a weekend a month off. I so look forward to that.
I so believe that what the Lord has called us to do HE will make a way, and for right now it is to take care of mother. There are those that think we are wrong but I really need to do what is in my heart.

I hope to make the transition of moving mom next weekend. This coming week is busy and I need help from my brother PE. Tisha and Harold have offered to help so I think we will just have a cook out party in the back yard next weekend and combine that with moving Mom. Sounds good to me!

I had to go back to Dr yesterday to get help with my back. Legs going numb now and toes getting worse and the pain  is enough to keep me up at nights. I might be getting 3-4 hours sleep at best.
She put me on another round of cortisone , which I hate taking because it gives me such headaches but it does wonders then she scheduled another MRI for this coming Tuesday. It has been 2 1/2 years since the last one.

I am trying to hold out surgery at all cost. I have heard such horror stories.Maybe another round of cortisone shots. They seemed to have helped two years ago.

Well , time to fix little Mother her breakfast, she has started eating better so time to fix her something.

Have a wonderful weekend and I am going to TRY to get around to see ALL of you before Monday.

AND DO NOT FORGET ME!   I promise to be a better blog buddy.......  I have mixed feelings about the summer coming to an end. I love being outside but I have more time in the winter to blog!

Bitter sweet huh?

  2. What good news about your mom going back to her own place - I hope it is a good transition for her. It is inspiring to me that she is on her computer!

I trust your back will improve - that has to be so hard when you're caring for someone else.

I have to say I'm anxious for school to start next week. Though I love my grandgirls with my being, it is very hard work to have all 4 of them here so much!

Have a blessed week-end! Get that junk food out of your house!!

  3. Forget you...never!

So glad to hear of the improvements with your mom...and you are so right that God will make a way when we are doing what He places in our heart...

Hope and pray your back and legs improve...my DH has been having similar trouble...we went for nearly two weeks with hardly any sleep because of the pain he was having at night...between adjusting the dosage on a new med and resting in a recliner, he has done better the past 4 nights...oh...and answered prayer!

    Love you, sis....

  4. Denise,
Good to hear that mom is ready to transition. I hope it gives you reprieve.

Stay strong. I will be praying for you too. Thanks for your prayers for my situation too.

God bless you for accepting responsibility for mom's care.

  5. How wonderful that the reward of all of your kind loving devotion has healed your Mom of and into a bit more independence. I do hope that the VA benefits get there soon. I have heard they can take a while. So hope your back gets some ease. You know a small measure of it could be stress and may well improve when things calm down a bit. The inflammation caused of stress can really exasperate a problem.
Perhaps some calming teas or other things just might be in order. My body always hurts more in stress. There is a reason it is often referred to as 'under stress' it has a weight to it.
Denise honor is due you and your husband.

And I think it is great that you know each week when you are going to get a break....I know that should help you spread your wings. :)
Take care of that back...I do remember when you were having such fits with it.
Know that I think of you often. Love you girl!

  9. I'm so happy to hear your Mother is doing better...What does she do one the computer? I think it is wonderful when people her age embrace new technology...So happy for you that she will be able to be in her own little place and that you're looking ahead to some time alone with just you and your Dennis.
I have injured my back twice plus it has loads of arthritis in it...I was told I should have surgery, too but so many have had it and weren't any better off that I opted out...I'm sorry you've had a flair up. I know how stressful the constant pain can be.
    I love you,
    Mama Bear

  10. Since I've known you, you've had a lot on your plate. It is important to take care of you too. If I lived closer, I'd come by and help and it wouldn't cost you anything. (((hugs)))

  12. Good news about your sweet mama. You might check into individuals who are not nurses. We got my mother inlaw some help for 7.50 and hour. You need some real breaks to survive.

I have a friend who had really bad back problems and went to a back clinic and they put her through treatments and exercise for about six weeks. They sent her home with daily exercises and as long as she is faithful to do them she has been painfree with the exception of a couple flair ups. I too would avoid surgery at all costs girl!

God bless ya and have yourself a glorious day sweetie!!!

  13. Denise what wonderful news on such a dreary day for us down south. I am so glad your mom will be able to move back into her house. I know it will be difficult for all involved because I have been down that road, only dad refused to leave the house until we dragged him out. He is where he wanted to be, but I still miss him very much. Glad you are able to have someone come and sit with her. That is high, because just about everyone around here charges $60 to sit with the elderly. Many prayers for a smooth transition in your life. I do understand that life comes first before blogging, but still miss you. Happy to see you back. Love and hugs, Pat
