Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.
See the PC Police had taken away
The reason for Christmas -no one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing,
Abut the Shepherds and Wise Men and Angles and things."
It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a "Holiday."
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!"
CD's from Madonna, an X BOX , an I-pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.
As Targets were hanging their trees upside down.
At Lowe's the word Christmas- was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty.
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen,
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter.
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith,
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded,
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate"Winter Break" under your "Dream Tree"
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully, choose what you say.
Shout Merry Christmas
NOT Happy Holiday!

Wow, very powerful, and so sad. We must put Christ back into Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThe poem is really true. We really have to be aware of what we see and what we spend out money on and who with. I noticed on the checkout stands Holiday Cookies, Holiday meals, etc, hardly any Christmas. Whenever this happens my heart cries out. It's Christmas, not Holiday or winter holidays or Season's Greetings. It makes me very particular.
ReplyDeleteWe need to get the focus back on Christ and not the commercialized version of Christmas we have all fallen into.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, andrea
Oh this is rich. Good one. Funny I think that the time to come is going to change a few things this year. The greed will be choked by the economy perhaps they might just catch a breath of remembered to the day s of yore.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Sister. I wish the Muslim man at the store a Merry Christmas and he wishes Happy Eid-al-Adha.
ReplyDeleteThe word Christmas will always be in my vocabulary, even if it isn't politically correct. Christ is the reason we celebrate and He will remain to be the center of Christmas for me.
Blessings,
Mary
I have never read this particular version...very sobering thoughts...makes my heart hurt....
ReplyDeleteI have not seen this before....but it's so true and sad, sad, sad. In my small way I will remember the reason we celebrate and I will also wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteDenise, I hope everyone is doing well...hugs to you and yours. Linda
p.s. I enjoyed this music too....L
How tragic that this is all so true. And now, no Christmas in the White House. Our poor country. No Christ; no hope.

ReplyDeleteI received this in an email just yesterday. Cool huh?
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this. Excellent poem. For years I have vowed to never put "Xmas" instead of Christmas even when I am cramped for room. I also try to avoid businesses that use "Xmas" in their signs. We cannot go down without a fight.
ReplyDeleteJust the other day I was at a shop in the mall and I overheard two cashiers talking. One was saying to the other that the boss wanted them to say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas to the customers. I went up to them and said that was so wrong and that I will never stop saying Merry Christmas!!!! Christ belongs in Christmas and that's where He'll stay! So there! lol Love ya girl. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you found the snow effects! I had looked for this for a long time!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy weekend!
Hugs,
Margaret B
I got this by email a while back....sad. But in this heart...in this home.....Christ is found and the plan is to continue reaching out to touch those around us with His love!
ReplyDeleteVery penetrating dear sister and so glad you shared it!
ReplyDeleteLove you.
